Tips and Tricks to Planning Your Perfect Rustic Wedding

We host beautiful rustic weddings at Trout Lake. Charming touches and handmade simplicity blend perfectly with our lakefront venue and woodsy location. We anticipate the trend continuing, so we thought we would share some tips to make your wedding the perfect rustic gathering!

Tip One: Woodland Portraits

Many wedding couples stick to the traditional poses and postures of timeless portraits, but here at Trout Lake we find that some of the most gorgeous shots have come from couples (and photographers) that were willing to step out of their comfort zone. Our property sits on 500 private acres of land, and pretty much anywhere you go is a good spot to take a photo. If you are adventurous enough to leave the paved walking trails and explore our property a bit, you will find dozens of spots that are full of trees, ferns, and other vegetation. If pictures are important to you, this is the place to be!

Tip Two: Antique Accents

Details are everything, especially when planning such an important day. We’ve found that our best rustic weddings include personal touches that blend old and new. Antique accents are a cost-effective, charismatic way to add history and old-world charm to your event. Searching for the perfect antiques is always a nice way for couples, families, and bridal parties to bond over the wedding as well!

Tip Three: Campfire and S’mores is always a crowd pleaser!

At Trout Lake, you have the option of extending your reception to include a campfire. Guests are always excited to warm their hands and keep the party going, especially if there’s sweet treats involved…a few of our couples have even had S’mores as their guest favors or escort cards at their weddings! Our wedding menu also features savory snacks and pizzas that can be added and delivered to your after-party campfire.

When choosing the perfect location for your rustic wedding, we think that Trout Lake is pretty ideal. Obviously, you can choose to get married in a field or in a perfectly cleared meadow, but finding spots like that isn’t always the easiest for you or for your guests. Trout Lake provides a mixed blend of many different rustic-inspired settings, and to top it all off, we have our 100-acre private lake which is always stunning in photos.

Trout Lake is also conveniently located in the heart of the Poconos, just minutes from Route 33 and Interstate 80. To see more rustic weddings and inspirations, please visit our Instagram and Facebook pages!
